Serving Lockhart since 1900, the barn-like Kreuz Market uses a dry rub. Don’t insult them by asking for barbecue sauce: Kreuz doesn’t serve it, and the meat doesn’t need it. Don't ask for a fork, either. But do grab a lot of napkins.
Line up by the open pits to buy your choice of succulent beef shoulder, ribs, sausage, brisket or pork chops, all priced by the pound (though you can order however much you like) and wrapped in butcher paper. Then head into the next room to order and purchase your sides at a separate register.
